Wedding Seating Plan and Table Numbers in a Custom Font

One wedding, one handwriting

For a Noosa wedding we designed and printed the whole stationery suite for the day: a seating plan, table numbers with timber stands, place cards, and separate adult and kids' menus. Every piece is set in the same custom handwriting font, so a guest who finds their table, sits down and opens the menu is reading one consistent hand from start to finish.

The menus and place cards have their own story on the Journal. This post is about the pieces that guests meet first: the seating plan and the table numbers.

The seating plan

The seating plan is printed on a large white board that stands on the floor at the entrance. It has nine tables, each in its own box drawn with a fine grey keyline, with the table number at the top and the guests listed underneath in the custom font. A small line beneath the heading reads "please find your table".

Keeping the lettering simple and the layout open matters on a seating plan, because guests are reading it in a crowd. The keylines give each table a clear edge, so a guest's eye goes straight from their name to the right box. We have blurred the guest names in the photo to protect their privacy.

Table numbers on timber stands

Each table number is printed on thick, textured white card, with the word TABLE and a large handwritten number. The cards sit in pale pine stands, so they stay upright on the table and are easy to read from across the room.

The numbers are printed to match the seating plan exactly, so there is no doubt which table a guest is looking for. We print the full set together and check them against your table list before they are packed.

Place cards and menus to match

The place cards are folded so they stand on the table, with each guest's name in the same lettering. The adult and kids' menus carry a fine black border and a small coastal illustration. You can see them close up in our post about the custom font menus.

Planning your own wedding stationery

A seating plan and table numbers are easiest to finish once your guest list and table plan are settled, so we recommend ordering them a few weeks before the wedding and leaving time for a proof. Send us the final table list, spelled exactly as you want each name to appear, and tell us the size of board or stand you need.

We design and print wedding stationery for couples across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast, and ship Australia wide. If you would like a matching set like this one, get in touch.
